I'm on spring break. I have gotten next to no writing done, despite my initial enthusiasm. Ah, well, such is life.

Since Monday, I've been helping my mother. We took apart her old greenhouse today, one of the plastic monstrosities. Then, I climbed up on the roof to take a look at the hole that appeared last week.

It was nerve wracking, trying to get up to the roof. The ladder is old, and I thought it creaked under my every movement. Then came actually getting on the roof. I yelled at Mom during it, talking my head off, about anything that came to mind, most of it being "I want to get up, but I can't!" I continuously looked down, thinking about how embarrassing it would be to die in front of my old room (yes, I was seriously thinking that).

About that point, my thoughts were detached enough for my body to the rest; next thing I knew, I was clambering up.

Once I was one the roof, everything was grand. I loved every second of it. The sun was overcast and the wind was blowing, but not to fiercely. I even volunteered to clean out the one of the gutters my father hasn't touched in all the time he's lived in that house. There were plants growing in it and a fine two to three inch layer of compost on the bottom. It was fun, in an odd, tiredly content way.

I had to come down though, due to forces outside of my control, otherwise I would have been up there until dinner. It started to rain, and made going back down the ladder very fun. My favorite part was when I was still trying to find the first rung with my second foot and I nearly kicked the ladder down.

In writing news:

I'm procrastinating desperately on that right now. I'm trying to rewrite WotM, but so far I only have the first chapter done. The second has proved very tricky, but I'm blaming the view point I chose.

You know, I should probably get back to that now...
