Sep. 22nd, 2013 10:20 pm Well, day 2 of 30.
Today was my dog Mae's birthday! The noodle-face is two years old today. I celebrated it by not putting her in doggie-jail (aka, her crate, which she has due to torn up carpet by the door when I've been gone). And also not doing any errands. *\o/* That said, the big one was returning a hideously expensive set of scissors (org. $50+ but $35 with coupon, and that don't even work that well), and buying more fabric. I think I can live. Mae got a (dog) cupcake too. It was adorbs.
I also did dishes. And baked! I made loose crostata with raspberry filling. It was very yummy, and only one piece is left.
A very significant portion of the day was spent listening to Vienna Teng's new CD. Songs are growing on me, as they do. I'm just waiting for a connection to be made in my writing back-brain. Vienna has always provided a good selection for my writing music.
I've got to say, I'm really enjoying this fall weather. I'm looking forward to drinking more hot tea now.
Also, if anyone (mostly looking at fateofshadow here, but anyone else too) wants to toss me a writing prompt, go for it. I'm planning to do a post 10 fics in 10 days thing, and I need to start building up for that.

(it's been a while since i posted on not private. there are reasons, which friends who also know me in RL know. if you want to know more, hit me up on IM or something)
So, I like reading other people's blogs. Even (or perhaps especially) people I've never met or only met once or twice. As time goes by, and the words flow across the screen, I get to know them. Dreams, weaknesses, fears, elation, and loss all in 12pt font in my little bedroom. Maybe I'll never met these people, but I still have a personal interest in their lives. I'm sad when they slowly stop posting as often or switch to a platform I don't use.
But what I'm trying to say at this midnight hour, is that I admire them. I adore the reams of their lives they record and share, the shifts in writing styles from morning, noon, and late at night. To me, looking at these people is like looking at facets of humanity.
Or something. Have I mentioned that it's way past my bedtime? Hence the florid prose. It's hard to stop and judge what looks good when I get tired.
So what I'm leading up to, is that I've been inspired by cesperanza and astolat's 30 day journaling thing. So I'm going to try it. This might be the third or forth time I've decided to do something like this (and the the fact I'm doing it half asleep might not be good either), but I'll never be able to do anything if I didn't keep trying.
So yeah.
Today, I went to the farmer's market, and bought lots of yummy things. I'm also getting worried by how much I've been enjoying microgreens. They're expensive, but oh so tasty, and I indifferent enough to most leafy greens that any type of green I do like should be added to my diet. Maybe I should try growing them myself too? idk
Also, I got my pre-order of Vienna Teng's latest album today. There's a stream of it here you can listen to (legally!). It's a more message oriented than her previous albums and her sound has changed a little, as musicians tend to do. I wish there was a little more in the way of piano ballads, but I like it. Especially the first song, Level Up.
Ah, fandom wise? I'm back into FFVII, for the first time in a few years. So far I'm planning to make a moogle dog coat (my Mae-dog needs something for Halloween!) and have been poking at fics.

Jun. 25th, 2012 01:10 amI bought a new laptop.
It was my birthday present to myself. It is also the reason I'm going to be budgeting tightly for the next few months (well, and a trip later this year).
I'm hoping it will help my writing habits and general internet interaction frequency. Now, I said the same thing about the tablet I bought last October, and we all saw how that worked. (To be fair, it did help with my RL twitter, but 160 characters isn't the same.) The tablet was more of a media consumption device, and less a creative one. It was impossible to write anything from start to posting on it.
The laptop I bought myself is almost a more recent and souped up version of my old one. By more recent I mean 6+ years ahead and 3 or 4 OS too. There's a deal of new things to get used to and figure out.
But first thing is first. I need my writing files and music.
And sleep.
Hmmmmm.

Let's talk about a revolution...
Oct. 30th, 2011 12:12 pmSo...
I ran out and bought a tablet yesterday. I'm now the happy owner of a Toshiba Thrive. We'll see how I feel about in a couple months, but I think it was a very good choice. I also bought a keyboard to go with it, so that I can also use it to write easily. I'm planing to put on Ubuntu later today. Android is fun, but I want a proper OS with easy to access documents.

Aug. 2nd, 2011 10:56 pmHAVE DONE NOTHING. FLAIL.
Next week I'm going on vacation, and I have done nothing to pack. FLAIL.
...Okay, mostly nothing. I'm like 1/2 packed. I just need to go out and buy stuff, like my vacation books (the latest Dresden Files book was supposed to be one, but then I finished it the day after it came out. Er, some of the wasted time might have also come about me hunting down all the meta posts I could finds about Harry Dresden and his many Issues.).

Tea, Writing, and Farmers Markets
Jun. 12th, 2011 06:30 pmI really should remember that I have an LJ some days.
It's been a kind fun week, so maybe it deserves a place somewhere other than my slipping memories.
Last weekend was an anime con, which is always fun, and I spent Monday night and Tuesday night sleeping in, so there's not much I can say about that. My week seemed to start on Wednesday.
After work, I went directly to one of the many farmers markets around the city. I shopped around for a short bit, then bought some strawberries, zuchinni, garlic scapes, lemon balm, chives, and radishes. It was a decent hual and I soup for dinner for the first time in months, and it was awesome. Edamame, carrot, radish, chives, ginger, and soy sauce in chicken broth, but it made me remember that one summer
trombonesonmars and I shared an apartment. And that evening I broke out my typewriter and tea~!
Thursday was more cooking and writing and tea, followed by Supernatural (er, yes, the thing I might be writing right now could be SPN fic).
Then Friday after work, I went to another farmers market and spent way more than one should be able to at a farmers market. To be fair, there was far more than produce there and I bought a few snacks, bread, jewelry, a skirt, herb plants, and a CSA share. Then, more tea, writing, and Supernatural.
On Saturday, I hauled myself out of bed around 9:30, and made it down to (you've probably guessed by now) another farmers market. This one was the big one and more of combination with a flea market too. I bought two types of tea, more plants, and a pound of sugar snap peas. It was off to fabric store after that and me failing to find something that match my furniture, no big surprise. Then, a little bit of apartment gardening, which consists of everything I bought just getting repotted in a bigger pot. I made bibimbap, around three and then talked with
drkotobuki and
trombonesonmars. I puttered around for a little longer, watched Supernatural (I'm marathoning season 4, aka Apocalypse Now, aka Dean has issues, aka sqeee Cas!) tried to read a paranomal romance – which ended up agaisnt the wall, and then read fic for while before deciding to make my tea and write some more. Around 11 pm, I noticed I had no milk, and ran out the grocery to correct this so I could have my chocolate milk and ameretto.
Today? I've gone two nurseries, bought two plants, payed bills, and watched three episodes of Supernatural and started in on the pile of laundry which had been threatening to engulf my bathroom. It's been kinda disgustingly productive, but really nice.
