Kyouya had been six when he first heard of the plan that his father had for him.
He had finished playing with his big sister, a game that he would later never remember the details of. When it finished, he had asked her what a word meant.
"Inheritance?" she said slowly. "Well, when someone dies, their children get their things."
"So when father dies, I'll get the business?"
She had shaken her head. "No, father isn't going to die for a long time. You might find something else to do then. Or he might. He's knows a lot of stuff. We're all going to go to Ouran, and go to a top college. He to our brother about majors today."
"Majors?" Another new word.
"I think means studying." His sister winkled her nose.
He was ten when he actually understood what it meant.
"Why can't I be a doctor?"
"I'm not saying that you couldn't be..." His sister began stack books onto the shelves. "I'm only saying that you shouldn't be."
"Well, why not?" He liked biology, and didn't find it gross at all.
"You can be so much more."
"By helping my brothers, right?"
She didn't answer, only slamming the rest of the books down in pile on his desk and leaving.
K. O. had been the name he used to gain his freedom.
